Once upon a time in a land far away, three children disappeared, never to be heard of again. People wrote and talked about it but nothing changed.

This is not a fairy tale, although cruelty was inflicted on those child-characters at a regular pace. No, this was a story from Adelaide, South Australia. Probably, a city unknown to you but the words, ‘the Beaumont children’ is familiar to everyone here.

On Australia Day in 1966, three children went to the beach. Various sightings were recorded of them at different stages, but nothing concrete has arisen as to what happened to them. Until that day, it was common to allow children to ride their bikes along the streets or go to the beach for a few hours.

After 1966, this changed and parents kept a closer eye on where their children were and warned of strangers, who meant harm. Of course, such ugly abuctions would have occurred before that year but not to three children all at once from one family. Their only children, by the way.

In the past, it was my belief that the news would arrive at some time and we would all find out what happened and have someone to blame. That doesn’t look like being the case. A range of theories have been spread, books written, foundations excavated but no revelation.
